Yeah, you love Sonic, OK? We all do. But there's a point where you can love Sonic too much. Enjoying Sonic making out with human chicks, for example, is enjoying Sonic too much. As is walking into a tattoo parlour, sitting down, saying "cover the arm with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and a Sega logo, will you?" and thinking it's a good idea.

A digital filmmaker named Dennis Liu has made an amazing video for The Bird And The Bee's lovely song "Again & Again". The set? His Mac desktop. You sort of have to see it for yourself to understand; luckily, Dennis has dropped it on YouTube so that the world can see it in low-res glory:Filed under: Imports

JC FletcherWe had a giggle over the Vii last year, but like any massively popular icon of pop culture, the ripoffs are far from over. We spied this recent imitator over at Engadget, with comes with a slew of vaguely identifiable acessories including paddles, something that might be a bat and a tiny blue spaceship. I'm kidding, I have no idea what that little blue thing is. A heart rate monitor?
The rig costs roughly $205 and comes with a gift box in case you want to make someone hate you for life. How thoughtful! It was made by China Shenzhen Firstsing Company Limited, who hilariously enough made a cooling fan for the actual Wii, but apparently didn't make the profit they hoped for, so they decided to rip off the whole system. Nice going. I wish I knew someone in China who could tell me if this crud actually sells.
[Thanks Justin]
T.V. Raman and Charles Chen, who have helped out with accessibility in Reader in the past, have not rested on their laurels and have another feature to announce:
I've long maintained that CSS is one of the most well-kept (and consequently under-exploited) accessibility secrets of the Web. Thinking back to the time that CSS1 became a W3C Recommendation, those of us who cared deeply about accessibility took great care to ensure that the end-user had a lot of control with respect to how content was displayed -- yet, end-user tools that allow users to leverage this capability have been rare.
As we were experimenting with Google Reader using AxsJAX, one of the enhancements we prototyped was the addition of a simple CSS-based lens that allows the user to selectively magnify the current article. Notice that this is subtly different from using a generic screen magnifier -- in that later case, you end up magnifying the entire screen. Google Reader can be smarter; since it knows which article you are currently reading, it can selectively magnify just that article upon request. This results in much better use of screen real-estate -- something that is an even scarcer resource when you're a low-vision user.
After prototyping this via the AxsJAX framework, we decided that this feature made sense for exposing to all our users -- we have now integrated this functionality into the main Reader interface. So with this lens in hand (your pocket) you can continue to hit j and k to move through articles, and when you find the print too small to read you can press = or - to enlarge or shrink the font of the article you're reading. The C in CSS stands for Cascading -- and in this case, you the end-user get to have the final say in how you consume your content by cascading your request for a larger font on top of the presentation chosen by the content publisher.

One of my favorite features on the Nintendo Channel is, of course, the ability to download download DS demos straight from my Wii onto my DS. A number of sources have reported a bizarre restriction in this service, however.
Nintendo has essentially blocked access to DS demos to people who do not allow Nintendo to access their Wii data. The reason as to why Nintendo would do this remains unknown, especially regarding that no information appears to be used by Nintendo when downloading the demos.
GameTap has released a prototype of a new in-browser gaming feature for 11 games. The in-browser playing is pretty sweet! I can see using it when I'm on the go and want some quick gaming action.
I apologize for not blogging during the month of April, I was down in Guatemala with my family picking up my nephew Brandon!
I bought the last MacHeist Bundle back in January and continue to use the Apps everyday. Now MacHeist has raised the bargain again and turned it into both an online and Retail bundle. So you can buy it online or pick it up in stores.
The bundle includes:
Online sales are for a limited time only and retail sales are only available while supplies last! This looks like a good deal if you haven't bought these apps or missed previous MacHeist Bundles.
I was searching YouTube and I found some extremely hilarious Muppet Bloopers.
One of the biggest surprises this April Fool's day was GameTap's release of Captain McGrandpa - Memory of the Forgotten. You download the game and when you go to play it, a launcher appears. You click on Play Game and your redirected to a thread on the GameTap forums where TheRedEye is the Game Master and the community responds with direct commands like a Text Adventure.
At first glance this seems strange, but once I started playing it---I was hooked! The game started an old man named Captain Grandpa who needs to figure out what he's supposed to be doing that day. The game ended at 6pm when we found out he was scheduled to be on a game show.
You had to follow it to fully appreciate it, but it wins my vote for Best April Fools Joke, even more than the World of Warcraft April Fools jokes. I hope to see more like this from GameTap.
We just got the news that next week we get to pick up my nephew Brandon! This is exciting news and I'm glad that finally the wait is over. I'll be gone for two weeks while we are picking him up and enjoying the culture of Guatemala.
It seems like not too long ago The Sims 2 came out. I loved the series back in The Sims 1, but The Sims 2 never really felt the same.
My Dad is now out of the hospital and everything's OK with him. Thank you Lord, and thanks to all of you who prayed for him and for our family.
On Saturday we took my Dad to the hospital and he's still there. We still don't know for sure what's going on, but at least he's in the care of the hospital.
He's in need of prayer, I'm trying to cope with this and I'm missing him. It's hard to focus on a lot of things when my Dad is not doing well.
Please Lord, be with my Dad!
