Cool story from my Grandfather

My grandparents are here for Christmas and my grandfather mentioned a story about something he saw earlier in his life.

A poster from a movie theater was listing the new movies for the week: Just Around The Corner
There’s Always a Woman
Too Hot to Handle

Apologies for Fresh From Posts

I was trying out a method for posting to my blog, but after a few days of the posts showing up-I realized I made a mistake. This has been removed and will NEVER return! I apologize to people reading my RSS feed and also to people who visited my blog during that time.

Get the IMDB on your iPhone

I’m usually the one that’s asked about movie showtimes, what’s out or who was in a movie. I used to have to access the full IMDB site on my iPhone, which sometimes was slow due to my 3G connection. Well now that IMDB released their own app-I’m able to get everything I need with very few clicks.

iPhone – 1 Device for many things

Back in 2007 I attended the Fall VON conference. At the opening Keynote, Jeff Pulver spoke about the time when you’d have 1 device for everything. I believe that time is now!

The iPhone is truly a remarkable piece of hardware. You can:

  • make and receive phone calls
  • send and receive SMS messages
  • instant message other people using BeeJiveIM, Trilian or other apps
  • access your email
  • write blog posts
  • play games
  • take pictures
  • record videos
  • track where your packages are
  • read books using the Kindle, Stanza, Barnes & Noble or other apps
  • browse the web
  • check stocks
  • broadcast live on uStream
  • order on Amazon or other shopping sites
  • watch movies
  • listen to music or audiobooks
  • navigate yourself around the world using Google Maps, TomTom, or other apps
  • check your stocks
  • read the news
  • flashlight
  • calculate tips
  • dictionary
  • the list goes on…

There are so many things the iPhone can do. What I wrote down was only a glimpse of it’s power. I really have no need for some of the devices I use to carry with me. It’s not a perfect device, but it’s amazing how far it’s come from the 1st iPhone that was announced to the 3Gs.

I was playing the game Driver last night and realized one thing-I’m playing a PSOne game on a device that’s smaller and faster than what the game was originally written for. Gameloft improved the graphics when they ported it over, but it still feels the same.

I look forward to the future and can’t wait to see where the iPhone and other mobile devices take us!

LOST

I just finished Season 5 of LOST. I have to say, this series is one of my all-time favorite series now! It’s well written, in my opinion, and it’s engaging. The plot twists kept me on my toes and I never knew what was going to happen. Sometimes if I thought I knew what was going on, the series would take a different turn. My favorite statement was “WHAT?” This series is definitely amazing and I look forward to February for Season 6. If you were confused or have never started watching Lost, I’d recommend you watch it. Give it time at the beginning and you’ll start to understand it more.

Trillian

I tried Trillian a long time ago on the PC and today I hear news about it coming out for the iPhone. I downloaded it and have been trying it out today.

First impressions are that it’s a really great start and I like the fact that it’s tied to an online account. This means my contacts will go to the servers and I don’t have to worry about losing all the settings I saved. Plus, the mac version is on it’s way so I can use the web client until the mac client launches.

Trillian also detects which device your currently on. That’s cool! Better syncing of IMs through technology.

Now all I want is Facebook chat!
